Alvin Powell is senior science writer at Harvard University, where he writes about
advances in science, medicine, and public health.
Before coming to Harvard, he worked as a freelance writer in Boston. Prior to that, he was a reporter for Bloomberg News in Boston, The New Haven Register in Connecticut, and for other Connecticut-based newspapers.
His current work appears on the HarvardScience website,
the Harvard home page, and in the weekly Harvard University Gazette.
His first book,"The Race to Save the World's Rarest Bird: The Discovery and Death of the Po'ouli,"
is scheduled to be published by Stackpole Books in March 2008.
